Ignite is a community gathering and show that started in Seattle and has been held in over 100 cities across the country. At an Ignite show, volunteer presenters each have five minutes to enlighten the audience on a subject of his or her choice. The key is the format: each speaker must bring 20 slides, each automatically set to advance every 15 seconds, producing a fast-paced, fun, and informative event.
At the 2011 Wine Bloggers Conference, we’d like to test the creativity of our participants and strengthen our own community by holding the first Ignite Wine event. We’ve scheduled this for 10:15 on Sunday, making it the last item before the wrapup.
Up to 10 volunteer participants will be able to choose a topic, stand in front of the crowd, and enlighten us. Topics can be serious (why Montenegro will be THE next wine producing area), funny (what you learned but already forgot at the last WBC), thought-provoking (why the three-tier distribution system does or doesn’t work), or heart-wrenching (how the wine business gave you a new outlook on life).
If you have registered for the conference and would like to present, please let us know (info@winebloggersconference.org). We’ll sift through the applicants, select 10 presenters (come spring), and then work with you to come up with a great presentation.
