Last year for the first time we scheduled an “Ignite Wine” session at the Wine Bloggers Conference. It received good reviews – and good suggestions for improvement – so we are doing this again at the 2012 conference in Portland.
Ignite is a very cool community event started in Seattle and now in cities around the country. It’s motto is “enlighten us, but make it quick.” At an Ignite event, speakers get up and have five minutes to talk about one subject. The hitch, though, is they must use 20 visual slides that auto forward every 15 seconds. This makes for a fast, fun event.
For 2012, we are looking for six volunteers to each present one Ignite talk using the format described above. The volunteers must be Citizen Wine Bloggers who are attending the conference and the talks must be non-promotional. We don’t want to hear why the winery you consult with is the best winery ever. We want to hear why you stopped drinking Pinot Noir except on Sundays, how you fell in love with Italian whites because you fell in love with an Italian blonde, or how wine blogging changed your life and, for better and worse, that of your husband.
Make it interesting. Make it funny. It will – by definition – be short. To apply, email elle at zephyr adventures.com or leave a comment on this blog post.
