EWBC Portuguese Wine Tasting in NYC: Drawing to Win a Free Trip to the Conference!

Aldea Today, 50+ New York City food and wine bloggers will receive their formal invitation to join Catavino at a Portuguese wine tasting at Aldea on July 22nd, courtesy of Viniportugal, to kick off the European Wine Blogger’s Conference coming up this October 30th in Lisbon. For those of you not familiar with Aldea, it is a brand new restaurant in the heart of NYC featuring innovative, haute Portuguese cuisine with a twist, such as (according to Ryan Sutton’s recent 3-star review in Bloomberg.com) “garlic foams, chocolate gels, sardine Napoleons and candied olives.”

Sounds enticing, no?

However, we realize that the majority of you will not be able to attend this exciting event, but there’s no reason why you should miss out! Consequently, Viniportugal has generously offered 1 free trip plus expenses to the European Wine Blogger’s Conference to any active USA wine blogger, wine/food blogger or an invitee to the NY tasting. For specific rules of entry, simply dash off a request to viniportugal@dunnrobbinsgroup.com.

Port wine has to be one of the finest types wines that you can drink it has a wide range of prices along with years of aging, a very earthy taste , but when you have it aged nothing beats the taste . My hats off to the Portuguese people who produce it......

I attended a GREAT pre-Wine Bloggers Conference ( Lisbon..October 30th, 31st..isn't that HALLOWEEN? and November 1st) at ALDEA (NYC), George Mendes futuristic restaurant wirh food inspirations from the past.
The event was worthwhile, as I met so many bloggers who were keenly focused on the 4 star appetizers and the variety of top level budget wines. Hosted by Vini Portugal and PR by wine knowledgable Aileen Robbins of Robbins/Dunn.
I now plan on attending the Conference ( maybe my story will win??) because Ryan and Gabriella made me realize that their dream was heartfelt, brilliant and necessary for bloggers to unite in open forums.
Count me in!!!

Thanks for the feedback Phil, we sent wine, (did you try our Incognito- it's never been called a 'budget' wine before?) but couldn't make it to the event itself, as I flew direct from Lisbon to SF yesterday, to have a day or 2 here in California prior to the WBC09 in Santa Rosa. Good luck, I hope to see you as the winner in Lisbon in October ;-)

It was nice to meet you...Looks like everyone is getting excited about Portugal....and the wines that have unusual grapes....and the cuisine,thanks to Chef Mendes....
FYI...I went back to the restaurant and tried the food in a different setting and was blown away...Often I go to Newark for Portuguese food,but,none of those restaurants have mysterious twists on dishes like George does...The wine slection was great and affordable...

First off, hip hip to Portugal and thanks for organizing the NYC tasting at Aldea. It was great to meet some fellow NYC bloggers in person (strange considering we're tweeting and commenting and emailing and electronically prodding and poking, yet had never met!).
Anyways, cool approach to rounding us all up and reminding us how great the wines are coming out of Portugal.

It is so nice to hear words of praise about Portugal. I was at the Cello Bar Opening last night in New York (229 East 53rd) sipping a Portuguese Alvarino (one of only two dozen wines this wine bar serves) and thinking about the upcoming European Wine Bloggers Conference in October.
Like cheese, which always tastes better in Europe, I was wondering if Alvarino tastes better in Portugal? There is only one way to find out>>>go there and and drink a nice, chilled glass of Alvarino during the conference....

Your saga completes the process for those uncertain thoughts of whether to attend and learn or just think about going to Lisbon. The blog summed up all aspects regarding ALDEA ( no, I don't live in NY, but, want to visit this amazing chef) and the history and facts regarding wines from Portugal. I'm glad you didn't talk about PORT...we all know that story...but, for $150USD look what I can attend and experience and network and learn..Can't wait to go..

I am so glad my blog made you aware....(beyond all of the valuable information on the EWBC's website),... that Lisbon, Aldea and the conference are all inter-linked to help us become better at what we do...the world is your classroom....our job is to educate and communicate what we see, taste and feel into words that the reader can grasp...or become curious about.....the hunger for knowledge is in all of us...and presently, for me, it is focused on Portugal.
