European Wine Bloggers Conference

Vienna, Austria – October 22nd-24th, 2010

Details

The 2010 European Wine Bloggers Conference will take place on October 22-24, 2010 in Vienna, Austria. Wine bloggers, journalists, wine industry professionals and social media innovators will join together to discuss the convergence between the culture of wine and the internet.

The vineyards in Austria cover 51,000 hectares which generally lie in the east and southeast of the country. Austria as a wine producing country is divided into 4 wine growing regions of which ‘Wien’ (Vienna), Austria’s capital, makes up 700 hectares of vineyards. Vienna, along with Paris, Prague, Bratislava and London is one of the few remaining world capital cities with its own vineyards. Amongst the wines produced here, white wines undoubtedly comprise the larger portion, which we will happily explore. Our event sponsor, Austria Wine Marketing Board, is elated to have us feature their wines for the 2010 European Wine Bloggers Conference, and we couldn’t be more excited!

Who Should Attend

  • Citizen Bloggers who write about wine, the wine industry, or who are just fascinated by the vinous beverage.
  • Winery, Wine Retailer or Wine Import/Export Bloggers who have a commercially related blog
  • New Media Innovators who work in the world of blogging  and social media.
  • Wine Industry members who would like to learn about new media or interact with bloggers.

Cost, Payment, Cancellation, and What is Included

The cost of the conference is150 for citizen wine bloggers (those unaffiliated with a business or organization) and industry wine bloggers (those whose blog is affiliated with a winery, retail store, or other business or organization), and295 for non-blogger participants (industry, media relations professionals, friends and family, etc). We are able to offer a lower price to citizen bloggers and wine-industry bloggers because it is for these folks our sponsors underwrite the conference.

We have kept the registration fee as low as possible and, frankly, it is a screaming deal when considering what it includes:

  • Conference participation including a host of educational sessions, networking opportunities and much, much more
  • Discounted hotel rates
  • Tastings featuring various Austrian wines
  • Two dinners and three lunches – with wine included
  • Full day of winery visits to several Austrian wine regions
  • Loads of pre & post trips available at a discounted rate for those who attend the 2010 EWBC

If you must cancel your registration, your payment is 50% refundable through September 1st and not refundable after that. Not included in the conference price is your hotel and transportation to and from the conference.

Arrival and Departure

Registration begins at 10:00 on Friday, October 22 and runs through 14:00. The conference will end at 6pm on Sunday, October 24th. In the coming months, we will be posting information on pre and post trips as well. Thus we suggest waiting to book your transportation until more information is provided in the near future.

Dress Code

Vienna is gorgeous come autumn with crisp, sunny days and only a smattering of rain and fog. Average temperatures sit around 14 degree Celsius, so dress in layers. We suggest packing casual clothing with a few “nicer” outfits reserved for evening events, but no pressure, we like you the way you are :)
