Lisbon: A Dreamy Place to Have a Conference

March 27th, 2009 · Comments · Lisbon

Years ago, when Ryan and I first stepped foot in Lisbon way back in 2003, we immediately fell in love with this city. And oddly enough, when staying in a small hostel, we met an American couple who had packed their bags in the States and moved to Iberia not 2 months before our meeting. This chance encounter occurred on the second day of our visit to Lisbon, and it was the one that motivated our own choice to move east to the big peninsula.

So it is of no surprise that we’re excited to host the II Annual European Wine Blogger Conference in the city that has shifted our existence. Not to mention the fact, that since that fateful day, we’ve had the pleasure of spending long stretches of time in this magical city, enjoying its food, wine and culture.

Hence, in preparation of the conference, we thought we’d provide you with a few links to some fun websites, and blogs, covering the secret treasures of Lisbon. However, if you have any additional sites we should be aware of, please don’t hesitate to share them! Over the course of the next 8 months, we’ll have an entire library of restaurants, museums, wine bars, musicians, wineries, etc for you to take advantage of before and after the conference. So plan accordingly, so as not to miss all the fabulous things that make Lisbon such a treasure to visit!

  • Hello Pingus! We are a Portuguese winery blogger, and we certainly will be present at the next European Wine Blogger Conference, just as we were at the first one in Rioja. Great news that it is being held in Lisbon! We hope to be able to invite them to visit our winery during the long weekend.
  • ??? Pingus, we hope all the Portuguese wine blogs come! Please join us!
  • It would be interesting to talk first with the Portuguese winebloggers.
  • We have spoken with a few, and they all seem very excited. I know we are, and we're hoping to meet many more, if not help to get a few more people to start! The more wine bloggers we can have from Portugal the better.

So far we have France, Germany, UK, America, Spain, Italy and Portugal all represented with wine blogger registrations! So considering we haven't even sent out a press release yet, we're getting excited!

Any questions at all feel free to email me: ryan@catavino.net
  • Ryan do you know the reality of the Portuguese winebloggers?
  • Unbelievable. A conference of wineblogs without the presence of wineblogs Portuguese.
